NOAA's State of the Coast Features
Developing assessments that describe the communities, economy, and ecosystems along the coast, as well as their connections, has been a continuing effort within NOAA. NOAA’s State of the Coast reports and fact sheets complement the Web site by telling more targeted stories of the coast, such as highlighting political or ecosystem-based regions. These products are created with the intent of supporting informed coastal resource management.
These comprehensive lesson plans—designed to supplement existing curricula at the high school level—present the themes of the State of the Coast website using online data from NOAA and other trusted websites. The lessons are correlated to National Science Education Standards and the Ocean Literacy Essential Principles and Fundamental Concents.
